After about 7 hours of wearing, it seems to be breaking in and they are turning out be to very comfortable. I think the heel may be cut unevenly, because there are two distinct levels of step in the heel. Look:Elf-like upturned toe - avoid it - I ordered two pairs, thinking they were similar to the discontinued Bostonian Strada. The workmanship seems fine but the look is terrible: the toe is very noticeably turned up, evoking the shoes of Santa's Elves. The toe is nearly an inch off a level surface. Bizarre. The picture here doesn't do it justice. I suppose this would be comfortable for doing a lot of walking -- there's a built in rocking motion -- but the result is something that really looks odd, and not at all like a dress shoe. The price was good, half the price of shoes I normally buy, and I liked the style. I have slightly wide feet, which limits the styles I can wear comfortably for long periods of time. I found the sole to be too inflexible, and from walking in them it was clear that a long period of breaking-in was ahead of me. There was little by way of arch support. My son lives in Washington D.C. and received the shoes but didn't especially care for them. He didn't tell me, however, until I came for a visit in May! To my surprise, Zappos exchanged the shoes for another pair of Bostonians with ABSOLUTELY NO TROUBLE!!! I was amazed not only at their courteous sales people but the speed with which they handled it. There was even a slight credit adjustment made to my Visa.
